Hazaribag is a city and district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The word Hazaribagh is made of two Urdu words, hazar meaning 'thousand', and bagh meaning 'garden'. Hence the literal meaning of Hazaribagh is 'City of thousand gardens'. Nearest airport is Ranchi (100km) which is well connected with rest of the country.

The National Park is the territory of various wild animals. The authority of the park maintain all the amenities for these animals and they are given the full scope to enjoy the freedom in every respect and grow their population.

Due to heavy inflow of tourists the animals and their lives are in danger and for that reason it has been decided that the prior permission is required and causing any harm to the animals or hunting is a serious criminal offence. There are wild boar, sambar, nilgai, cheetal, kakar and tigers are the main attractions of the park.

HAZARIBAGH NATIONAL PARK

Hazaribagh means “thousand tigers”. Hazaribagh is famous for its wildlife sanctuary. The place is situated in the rising and falling of Chhota Nagpur Plateau. The sanctuary is 190 sq km and was established in 1954. The sanctuary is home to animals like wild boar, niglai and leopard. The sanctuary is a thick forest area so it’s a safe place for birds to live.

Prior permission from the divisional forest officer (west division) is required to enter the sanctuary.

How to reach

The nearest airport is Ranchi Airport which is well connected with various cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, and other neighboring states.

59 km away is the nearest railway junction named Koderma. Apart from that you can easily take the Hazaribagh road railway station on Howrah-Delhi Grand Chord line.

The best way to locate the inner life of the state you can easily avail the highways. The local busses and the busses connecting the neighboring states ply and you can easily take these busses as they are cheap and comfortable.
